"Hubbard signed a contract extension with Carolina last season, which locked him in as the team's lead back for the near future. The 2021 fourth-round pick has amassed 275-plus touches in each of the past two seasons and, despite missing two games in 2024, he finished in the top 15 among RBs in carries, targets, touches, yards, touchdowns and fantasy points. He ran well (4.8 YPC) and was busy near the goal line (he ranked fifth with 17 carries inside the 5-yard line), but he struggled as a receiver (RB-worst 3.2 YPT). With Jonathon Brooks (ACL) out for the entire 2025 season, Rico Dowdle and rookie Trevor Etienne are Hubbard's primary competition for touches. The 26-year-old makes for a solid RB2 target."

"Hubbard and Dowdle both were lead backs last year, but there doesn't seem to be any doubt about whose show it will be in 2025, considering the former signed a four-year, $33.2 million extension. Dowdle settled for a one-year deal with a reported base value of $3 million, which suggests NFL teams view him as a backup-caliber player even after he ran for 1,079 yards in Dallas last year. Hubbard is the better pure runner, and generally a superior player, but it is possible he cedes more of the backfield work in 2025 (compared to last season) if Carolina's coaches like Dowdle more than they liked Sanders. There's no indication Hubbard's calf and knee injuries from the end of 2024 will be a problem for the upcoming season, whereas 2024 second-round pick Jonathon Brooks figures to miss significant time after tearing his right ACL for the second time in two years."

"Cook enters his fourth NFL season as one of the trickiest evaluations in fantasy. On one hand, Cook operates in a three-headed committee (albeit as the starter), which limited his carries (19th among RBs last season), targets (34th), touches (22nd) and total yardage (21st) last season. On the other, he's an explosive playmaker (4.87 YPC) in an elite offense who tied for the NFL lead 16 rushing touchdowns in 16 regular season games last season. Cook is obviously a strong bet for touchdown regression to the mean (especially considering he had nine TDs during his first two seasons), but the 25-year-old gets enough run in a great offense to produce starting-caliber fantasy numbers. Value him as a fringe top-15 back."

"Cook skipped voluntary OTAs amid his ongoing negotiations for a new contract with the Bills, but the 2022 second-round pick won't opt to hold out from mandatory minicamp, for which he would accrue fines. His presence at minicamp could indicate that contract talks have progressed beyond the point of being a "stalemate," as Cameron Wolfe of NFL Network described the situation earlier in June. After rushing 207 times for 1,009 yards and a career-high 16 touchdowns across 16 regular-season appearances in 2024, plus a 32-258-2 receiving line, Cook is now staring down the final year of his rookie deal."
