New Seahawks quarterback Sam Darnold will have to make do with a receiving corps that has lost two 2024 starters, with DK Metcalf now in Pittsburgh and Tyler Lockett getting released. Their departures open up a potential path for Valdes-Scantling to see steady playing time as a deep threat. "Metcalf was traded to Pittsburgh after spending his first six NFL seasons in Seattle. Metcalf has proven durable (he's missed three games in his career), but he hasn't quite lived up to lofty expectations. Despite leading the NFL (by 10) with 96 end zone targets since entering the league, Metcalf has finished one season in the top 20 among WRs in fantasy PPG (10th in 2020), though he has finished top 25 in four of his past five seasons. His vertical role has limited his catch total and his scoring has underwhelmed lately, as well (6.3 TDs per season since 2022). With minimal mouths to feed in Pittsburgh, Metcalf is assured of a big target share, but he'll need to overcome obvious quarterback uncertainty. Metcalf has the look of a fringe WR2 who will be more appealing if Aaron Rodgers joins the team."

"Metcalf officially will have his trade request granted, heading to Pittsburgh after six seasons with the Seahawks. The wide receiver is coming off a 2024 campaign in which he caught 66 of 108 targets for 992 yards and five touchdowns over 15 regular-season contests with Seattle. The 27-year-old now will be under contract through the 2030 season, earning the largest contract for a non-quarterback in Pittsburgh's franchise history. As it sits right now, the Steelers do not have any quarterbacks under contract for the 2025 season, but it's possible that Metcalf reunites with his former teammate Russell Wilson in Pittsburgh."
